White’s Spectra V3i Review

The White’s Spectra V3i was White’s most advanced detector, running three frequencies simultaneously (2.5, 7.5, and 22.5 kHz) and displaying target information on a colour LCD screen with spectrum analyser readout. Now discontinued following White’s closure in 2020, it remains popular in the used market among experienced UK detectorists who appreciate its deep discrimination capabilities.

How It Performs

🏖 Beach
Not well-suited to saltwater beach conditions. The simultaneous frequency system can be unstable on heavily mineralised wet sand.
🪙 Gold
Not a gold machine. Better suited to iron-rich sites and coin shooting.
🌱 Beginners
Not recommended for beginners. The depth of customisation options makes it overwhelming without significant experience.
🪙 Coins
Exceptional coin hunter when properly tuned. The 3-frequency approach gives it an edge over single-frequency VLF machines in mineralised soil.
🏹 Relics
Very capable relic detector in the right hands. The spectrum display helps separate iron from valuable targets in complex soil.
